Genesis 6:4
“There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.”(Genesis 6:4)
Before we attempt to identify who the Daughters of men and the Sons of God, we must have a good understanding of the Creations accomplished by the LORD God. These next few lessons will be difficult for one very good reason. Mankind, guided by the devil’s hands, has done all it can to confuse the Creation of all things by the LORD God. It’s wicked attempts to remove God from the creation process has been effected through the use of words like “evolution” and “natural selection” while attempting to place an arbitrary, unproven date of that “big bang” that far exceeds the probable age of all things of the universe that God created.
First let’s define the worldly ideas of science so we are all on the same page.
Evolution, defined by Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism is the belief that all living organisms arose from one simple, living cell. This belief suggests that by chance, over a long period of time, these cells clumped together in spontaneous generation, and created life without the touch of God.
Natural Selection is the belief that only the best adapting life forms survive, forcing the deviant and weakened life forms to disappear from the chain of life without the direction of the LORD God.
The Big Bang “model” suggests that an extremely hot, dense and violent event occurred at the beginning of time, causing the universe to expand, and start the creation process of all living things without the presence of the LORD God.
Regrettably, people of faith have blindly argued against the scientist’s guesses of the origins of the Universe, by refusing to discuss these theoretical ideas. Rather, it seems that most believers are so fearful of the discussion, that the conversation is left unspoken, and their search of the Word of God, slanted to support a very limited and unrealistic idea of Creation by God.
Today, you are going to learn about Theistic Evolution that is supported by the Word of God, conforms to some of the scientific findings that are non-theoretical, but yet upholds that all things were created by the LORD God. (In-depth teachings on the Creations accomplished by the LORD God will be another course; however, you should be able to gain some understanding of creation in this lesson that will help you understand Noah’s and your own time in depth).
The LORD God’s creation account can be found in the first chapter of the book of Genesis. This account speaks of seven days in the beginning of God’s time of Creation, and gives deep knowledge to searching believers on how His creation of all things was accomplished. A careful examination of the Word of God reveals the different types creations on different days that were tailored to the LORD God’s specific will for that creations’ nature.
For instance, the LORD God’s contemplation of the surging water influenced and moved Him to create. His first act of Creation, “light” was made to illuminate the surging waters so He might deeply understand. As a result of His creation, He was able to separate His created light from the existing darkness. From that moment on, the LORD God created because His Works were illuminated to Him as good and purposeful. Each movement made by Him resulted in new illumination and enlightenment and an opportunity for Him to respond with even higher levels of creation.
The Word of God reveals that there was no one Big Bang that created all things; each Creation was deliberately made by Him with specific techniques suited for the job at His hand. Of course, one can suppose that the biggest Creation process to have ever happened in our known realm included awesome displays of supernatural events that we cannot understand with our limited human minds. So we rely upon our reasoning ability to make sense of the scientific measurements and we are able to create theories that might fit.
Therefore, the one Big Bang theory as a singular event that created all things is shot out the window by the Word of God. Creation did not happen that way. However, a believer can conclude that both science and the Word of God agree that a supernatural event began the process of Creation, and the faithful know it was at the Hand of God. If there is to be a creation, there must be a Creator, and we know with certainty that it is the LORD God. How exciting it is for both the believer and the skeptic as the newly restored Hubble telescope peers deeper into the beginnings of the Creations by the LORD God!
From that very moment when light was created through the LORD God’s intense desire and effort to understand the surging waters, He became the Creator to everything mankind knows. At that very instant, when the light shined brightly in His Mind, He began the accomplishment of His Works to become our Creator, our LORD God, and truly the Master of our beginnings.
As the Creation process advanced He separated one thing from another (darkness), expanded His Creation (Heavens), gathered together different portions (seas), allowed the propagation of earth’s fruits to evolve (herbs, fruit and trees), spread His influence to regenerate strengthen and refresh (waters from Him), established the laws of nature to proceed in a natural way (mist), and then purposefully made new things through His direct effort (sun, moon and stars). Note how the Word of God reveals the different techniques the LORD God used to create His different designs.
Genesis 1:1-23
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
”And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night. And the evening and the morning were the.first day.”
“And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”
“And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.”
”And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.”
”And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters broughtforth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.” (Genesis 1:1-23)
Now we come to the part that is critical for understanding those alive in the times of Noah. It centers upon the identity of the Daughters of men and Sons of God, which can only be understood through the steps of Creation, for it is through these different creation processes that different people were formed and created by the LORD God in the beginning.
Recall where our journey originated, how it has proceeded, and why we are at the place in this lesson today. Hebrews 11:7 extolled the faith of Noah in the midst of unrighteous mankind. Genesis 6:4 blames the union between the “daughters of men” and the “sons of God” as the reason for mankind’s wickedness. Now we turn to Genesis 1:24-26 to understand who these different people were through a study of the different creations of life that the LORD God made.
The deep revelation of specific Creation techniques is revealed in each verse. There are three different types spoken about in these verses, and we will examine each one individually.
Genesis 1:24
“And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.” (Genesis 1:24)
This verse shows that the LORD God “LET” the earth bring forth cattle, creeping things, and beasts. A scientific name for this process might be the word “evolution”. It certainly shows that a Creation of the LORD God was allowed to evolve into a creation of life itself. Since all Creation was created by the LORD God, even evolution was created by Him. Allowing His creation to move forward was a choice He made.
After the LORD God saw the evolution of His Creation produce the cattle creeping things and beasts, He chose to make His own beasts, cattle and creeping things:
Genesis 1:25
”And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.” (Genesis 1:25)
Now, think upon this a moment. The LORD God allowed His creation to evolve, which produced cattle, and then He rolled up His sleeves and created some of His own. He used the pattern of Earth’s evolution, to create life. How did the purposefully created animals by the LORD God differ from the animals that evolved from the created earth? The secret can be found through the typological representation of the cattle, beasts and creeping things throughout the Word of God.
Prophesy of the LORD God is always rich in typology because it is given to only specific people of the LORD God to understand. Many words in the Word of God have meaning far beyond what is understood by common people of the world. Ezekiel 34:1-31 defines cattle, beasts, flocks and shepherds in detail, and gives Christians the ability to understand the deeper mysteries of the LORD GOD’s Creation.
Ezekiel 34:1-31
“And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. And they were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.”
“Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; Therefore, 0 ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them. For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.”
‘And as for you, 0 my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats. Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet? And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle. 21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle. And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it. And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid. And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more. Thus shall they know that I the LORD their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord GOD. And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.” (Ezekiel 34:1-31)
These verses, like many other throughout the Word of God, lead us to know that cattle, beasts and flocks represent peoples of the world, wild ones, common ones, abominable ones, always using the pattern of evolution to conform to His Laws of Creation. When this act of creating through the pattern of evolution was completed, He was not yet pleased with the results. It is at that moment that the LORD God chose to create man in His Image, after His own likeness!
When the LORD God created the common people of the world, he used the pattern of evolution to form these people. These people lived before the final creation of man by the LORD God. They formed themselves into families, and tribes and cities, and began civilization as generations reproduced.
After creating these common people of the field, He wanted to create a people that reflected His Image, and thus set out to make man from the pattern of Him mixed with the dust of the earth.
”And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis1:26)
A man of God was created by Him after His Image. This created man of God, and his generations to come, were to have dominion over all other life, both the animals and the humans created after the pattern of His evolved Creation. The LORD God formed this man from the dust of the earth, and then breathed His breath of life into him. This man created in God’s image was a son of God.
The Word of God speaks of two distinct creations of people; one people were made as common mankind that were created by God from the pattern of evolution and the other were a people of God created from the pattern of His image. His creation was made from perfection in His Image, at the most advanced creation possible. (Evolution would NOT affect His people created in His Image; from that point on, all Imaged people would de-evolve from perfection when sin entered the world.)
This brings us to the place where we can now identify with some certainty the identity of the daughters of men and the sons of God. There is enough typological evidence within the Word of God to support two different types of mankind; those created after the evolution pattern and those created in the Image of God. This knowledge identifies the daughters of men as coming from the evolution pattern, and the sons of God as coming from the Image pattern of creation. When these two different life forms came together and reproduced, they created “Giants.”
“There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.”(Genesis 6:4)
You should be aware that there are many different interpretations of the identity of the daughter of men and the sons of God. I believe I have absolute support in the Word of God for my conclusion, and challenge those who support the other interpretations to find the same amount of valid support in defense. I think it to be impossible for critics to supply as much evidence from the Word of God as my theory supports.
Most wrong interpretations center upon the belief of two different ideas:
1) That the daughters of men were people of the earth, and the Sons of God were aliens come down from outer space to procreate
2) That the daughters of men were people of the earth, and the Sons of God were fallen angels that had sexual intercourse with mankind.
I believe these two conclusions to be preposterous and not supported by the Word of God.
Remember our study to this date that has been fully proven by the Word of God. The error of Abel had blossomed into a full-blown attack of people transgressing greatly against the LORD God. That attitude, coupled with the interracial coupling of two different types of life forms, created wickedness of great magnitude. The offspring of the cohabiters had the best of both worlds; they possessed the things of God and the things of mankind; thus, they were very, very powerful.
Genesis 6:5-7
”And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.”
”And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.” (Genesis 6:5-7)
The LORD God set out to destroy all types of life that He had created because of their wickedness. The interrelations between life forms were the last straw, and brought the judgment of the LORD God fully against all life on earth.
